AmpliVox: Innovative Design Spurs Growth
New sound systems deliver powerful, portable multimedia

(NORTHBROOK, IL) – AmpliVox Portable Sound Systems, manufacturer of high quality, easy-to-use portable public address systems, and reliable elegant lecterns with integrated wireless sound systems, has seen sales grow over 49 percent over the past two years. Owner and CEO Don Roth attributes the growth to the company’s new commitment to multimedia, bringing to the exploding computer multimedia presentation market the products’ high quality, innovative design and ease of use.

"Our rigorous dedication to engineering quality and reliability has enabled us to grow by more than 38% in 2004 and up 11% through the first half of 2005." Roth said. "Our continued commitment to providing precise yet versatile solutions to customer needs, including several new product launches (with more to come!,) will greatly serve the growing presentation marketplace."

AmpliVox products were formerly manufactured by Perma Power

Roth acquired AmpliVox, then known as Perma Power, in 1995, becoming the fifth owner of the sound products line. Founded by Norm Ackerman in 1952, Perma Power introduced the AmpliVox line of portable PA systems in the 1960s. The company also introduced one of the first residential radio-controlled garage door openers, supplying Craftsman garage door openers to Sears. In the late 1970s, the company added power outlet strips, surge suppressers, power conditioners and uninterruptible power systems (UPS) for computers.

During that time, Roth was integral to the growth and success of the business. Before joining Perma Power, he was regional vice-president for Xerox and executive vice-president of Apeco and Numeridex Cad/Cam Systems.

The Travel Audio Pro -- Sound Powerhouse on Wheels

In 2004, AmpliVox launched the Wireless Travel Audio Pro, the flagship of a new fleet of professional portable public address systems for the corporate, school and university, government, house of worship presenter indoors or outdoors. AmpliVox’s exclusive self-contained ready to speak design offers the presenter “Great Sound in a Traveling Package” plus a “Never run out of power guarantee”

The Wireless Travel Audio Pro’s all inclusive built-in features consist of one frequency agile UHF 10 channel user selectable wireless receiver with individual volume controls (user can choose a lapel, headset, or handheld wireless mic), optional UHF second receiver, cassette recorder, variable-speed CD player with anti-shock pickup, and dual-mode AC/DC power supply with detachable cord all integrated into one unit, making it unique for pro audio applications. The internal AC power supply automatically recharges built-in heavy-duty batteries to provide up to 30 hours cordless run time.

The Wireless Travel Audio Pro contains a powerful 100 watt amplifier that has solid state integrated circuits with short circuit and thermal overload protection, full range speaker system, external speaker output to power optional companion speakers, 3 pro audio XLR/phone jack combo and 2 additional mic inputs with phantom power. The unit includes an XLR professional dynamic handheld mic with 25’ cord. The presenter can move around within a 300’ range. Microphone inputs easily accommodate all popular interface cables. The unique AmpliVox design uses quality wood for excellent sound reproduction with wear resistant carpeting for durability.

The Wireless Travel Audio Pro offers great versatility with voice mode that produces true voice clarity and rich, room filling sound plus a music sound mode that incorporates a 5-channel mixer, 2-band equalizer, tweeter horn and 10” woofer. (SPL = 120 Db in project mode and 110 Db in music mode.) Wherever it is used, the Wireless Travel Audio Pro provides full power without having to carry along extra supplies: AC power for indoor applications and battery power for outdoors. The user can add extra speakers, including AmpliVox’s powered wireless companion speaker, or connect it to most built-in PA systems. The Wireless Travel Audio Pro has an integral retractable luggage handle, tripod mount, and 2 casters for easy transport.
