Lecterns are made in multiple pieces to fit a particular space, to wrap the desk surface around the speaker or to hold additional equipment in smaller side cabinets to reduce the apparent size of the lectern. This approach also allows very large lecterns to be moved into a building easily. There are many design possibilities with the sectional approach.
