FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Will I need to replace the internal batteries?
The batteries should last approximately one to two years with proper maintenance. The SW915 uses sealed lead acid batteries (SLA) similar to what’s used in an automobile. When the SW915 is not in use it is recommended to leave the unit plugged into an AC outlet; the built in ‘smart’ charger will monitor the battery condition and regulate the battery charging as needed. Avoid running the batteries all the way down prior to recharging, as this may cause irreversible damage to them.
Should the SW915 Travel Audio Partner power be ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ during charging?
The SW915 power should be turned off during charging for best results. The SW915 will charge if it is turned on while plugged into an AC outlet, but not as quickly as if it were turned off.
When should the SW915 Travel Audio Partner batteries be charged?
The SW915 should be charged when it is first received by the consumer. We also recommend plugging the SW915 into an AC outlet right after each use to keep the batteries in good condition. Avoid running the batteries all the way down prior to recharging, as this may cause irreversible damage to them. If the ‘BATT STAT’ light starts flashing red while in use, the batteries are very low in power, and the SW915 should be plugged into an AC power source as soon as possible. The SW915 may still be used once it is connected to AC power to allow recharging. Please consult the owner’s manual for more details on the battery status indicator light codes.
How long does it take to charge the SW915 Travel Audio Partner batteries?
The SW915 should be allowed to charge for up to six hours after each use. The battery status lights will indicate the condition of the battery at any time during the charge process. When the ‘Power’ indicator light is a steady green light while charging, then the batteries are fully charged. Please consult the owner’s manual for more details on the battery status indicator light codes.
How should the SW915 Travel Audio Partner batteries be prepared for long term storage?
If the SW915 is to be stored for more than a week (such as over winter break or summer vacation) we recommend plugging the unit into an AC outlet and storing it in charge mode. If this is not practical, we recommend disconnecting the batteries, which are located behind the panel with the ‘Quick Setup Guide’ printed on it. Upon putting the SW915 back into service, reconnect the batteries and plug the SW915 into an AC outlet and allow the unit to be fully charged before its next use.
Can I add more microphones to my SW915 Travel Audio Partner?
Yes. The SW915 has three mic inputs and one built-in wireless microphone receiver in the basic package, and can be expanded up to four additional built-in wireless microphone receivers upon request. A number of additional microphones can also be added with an external microphone mixer.
Can I add more speakers?
Yes. The line-level output (labeled ‘LINE OUT’) on the SW915 control panel will support a powered speaker, as well as a transmitter for using wireless speakers. Please go to http://www.ampli.com/wireless-powered-speakers/ to see our speaker products.
Can I use my SW915 Travel Audio Partner with a built-in house sound system?
Yes. The line-level output (labeled ‘LINE OUT’) on the SW915 control panel can be used to provide a 600 ohm unbalanced signal to a house PA system.
Can I leave the SW915 Travel Audio Partner on the ground when I use it outdoors?
Yes, but when the unit is placed on the ground, the usable range is reduced. To get the best area coverage put the SW915 on a tripod. You may also put the unit on a raised platform.
What is the Warranty on the SW915 Travel Audio Partner?
Six years, except the CD player and optional MP3 recorder/player, which each have a two year limited warranty; and the SLA batteries, which have a 1 year limited warranty.
